There are about 100 kilometres between Campbell River and Gold River. Nevertheless it took me 3 exhausting hours under a scorching sun to get there. It felt like I was lost in the middle of nowhere, in the woods without a compass. The cars that were on the road kept going by as if I was not there. Flying insects kept me company in the doldrums. When I finally arrived in Gold River, I was floored to learned that the boat was only in service on Wednesdays. Today was Friday so the next one was only coming in 5 days! Marc did not mention anything like that or maybe he did and I was just not listening ... Anyway, I did not consider staying in the area. I just wanted to get out of this forest. It took me another 3 hours to get back to Campbell River. It was as hot and difficult to get out as it was to get in. It seemed that the insects were saying, "Hey Everybody! Look! He came back!" - so at 2 pm, I was in Campbell River again. I could see the water and the mountains. It was as beautiful as it was earlier.
11:30 pm
I took a room at the Youth Hostel in Victoria. Actually it was a dormitory. The whole place got filled with ZZZZZZZ's almost as soon as the light went off. I joined the chorus of tired men.
