- Remède contre la soif?
- Il est contraire à celui qui est contre morsure de chien : courez toujours après le chien, jamiais ne vous mordera; buvez toujours avant la soif, et jamais ne vous adviendra.

It took 6 hours of waiting under the hottest sun to get a ride. I believe that it was my longest wait ever. At first I was walking happily and looking at the surroundings. It did not take too long before I got dehydrated and frankly I was just about to cry when a pickup truck pulling a trailer stopped. I ran toward the truck like a madman. The two guys that were in the truck got out. One went to the trailer and brought three beers. I drank with them even if I was not sure if they were stopping for me or just to drink. They asked where I was going and after a minute which is the time it took them to finish their brew, they said: "Come with us, we're going to Phoenix!" I finished my beer quickly, threw my packsack into the box and joined them in the cab. They did not drink while driving but we stopped every 15 or 20 minutes so they could go into the trailer, get some cans and drink peacefully beside the truck. When we were on the highway it was basically scary. We did a lot of zig zags, going onto the dusty shoulder more than once. Anyway I was glad to arrive in Phoenix. It took us about seven hours to drive 340 kilometres - that gives us a average speed of 48 kilometres!
As soon as I arrived in town I went to the good old Salvation Army.
