Deux choses remplissent l'esprit d'admiration et de craintes incessantes: le ciel étoilé au dessus de moi et la loi morale en moi.

am
I woke up with the news that the Skylab was about to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere during the next few hours. Some say it could even fall in the US... even here in Chicago. But right now, the City in in the middle of an ozone alert. It is like a thick curtain of trash and dust dancing around us. It is hard to see and it is hard to breath. There is a description of the Ozone Alert Stages in the newspaper. It is pretty scary. What I don't understand is the fact that all of the factories are running full blast. It seems that they should stop the production of 'whatever' they are producing until the air gets better...
pm
I have now heard that the Skylab fell into the Indian Ocean, west of Australia. It is too bad, I would have liked to see a big ball of fire falling into the Lake Michigan.

Twenty-five years ago I went on a hitchhiking trip around Canada and the USA. I kept an obsessively detailed journal of my adventures. Recently while cleaning some old boxes I found the journal, which I thought was lost long ago. This blog re-tells some of my stories.
