The not much of a talker-world traveller bicycle
Time flies, I have been gone for a month already. I left Vancouver for Long Beach, on the Island. On the boat I saw M. LeBlanc who was touring the world on his bicycle. I had seen a picture of him in the newspaper. He has this huge globe-piggy bank attached to the front of his handlebars. If you feel so inclined, you can put a quarter or even a two dollar bill to contribute to his adventure. I was pretty impressed by his trip so I went to speak to him. I said hi and told him that he was really doing something great. He hardly looked at me and muttered a pretentious "Yeah." That was all he could say to me. I felt bad but wished him good luck anyway.
One of the rides I got was with Murray and his sport car. It was a real race. Zoom by the lake at 120. Zoom by the cliff at 100. When the road was straight and flat Murray would floor the gas pedal. He didn't say much, he was busy looking ahead. We arrived in Tofino around 7 pm. Murray said he was going back to Nanaimo, he had just wanted or needed to drive. Zoom he was gone.
At the grocery store I met Stan who told me about a free campground in the Park. He said that he just came in town to get some food and was going right back. He offered me a lift. His car was old and he drove it quite slow. We arrived in a parking lot and started to walk into the forest. It looked like the jungle. There were little rivers and little bridges to cross them. There were big trees and the air felt magic! We could hear the roar of the ocean but because of the fog, we could not see it. The sound was louder and louder but all we could see was a white wall of humidity. After a while Stan said "It's here." We had arrived. We were on the beach just before the Pacific Ocean but we could not see it for the fog. After a moment I noticed little red and orange dots. It looked like a polka dot dress. I asked Stan about it and he said, "Those are pop tents. Put yours anywhere you want!"
