First stop of the day was at the Ministry of Human Resources and it was not the easy money that Pierre told me about. They gave me two meal tickets for a grand total of three dollars... I wonder what I will eat. I was wondering if I should spent it all on ice cream. In the line up to the Ministry, one of the customers mentioned that the office in the mainland gives more money than this one on the Island. He did not know why, but that was the rumour. In any case it was enough to convince me of going to Vancouver. I put my two meal tickets in my wallet and went back to the Salvation Army to pick up my stuff. I opened the door and walked in. The big guy, who was sitting behind the counter stood up and said: "We're closed, come back at five." I said, "What do you mean come back at five, I am just getting my stuff. I am taking the ferry in a hour." The big clerk puffed up, "I said come back at five, we're closed. Don't you get that?" I reiterated my request, "I just want to pick my stuff." I started to walk toward the dormitory. The clerk grabbed an ice pick and moved quickly toward me growling like a beast. He was like a werewolf and I felt that I was going to be a victim. I backed off. I had to wait until the short arm of the clock pointed to the number 5.

I spent the afternoon at the Harbour where I met Isocha a Polish woman who was selling popcorn from a cart. She sold at least 2 tons of the fluff stuff! I wished I had a gig like that. At five I returned to Sally Ann to reclaim my possessions. The werewolf was still there but he had changed back to his human appearance. I went in at 5 and went out at 5:02. I ran to the ferry just in time to catch the boat for Vancouver.
